Talented Ghanaian artist Worlasi has announced the upcoming release of a politically-charged new EP titled “Angry African” on November 23rd.
In a social media post, Worlasi explained that the 6-track project will address the economic and social challenges making survival difficult for Ghana’s youth. Issues like unemployment, healthcare shortfalls, and mass emigration are covered.
Songs like “Decorated Monkey” offer scathing commentary on disconnected leaders, while “How Many Times” utilizes call-and-response elements to highlight recurring problems.
“Soul Eaters” refers to leaders metaphorically draining the life out of citizens, and “Balance” humorously tackles insufficient funds. An interlude “Sleeping Bear” even compares the president to a slumbering, unaware bear.
With its pointed lyrics and undeniable messaging, the “Angry African” EP cements Worlasi’s reputation as one of Ghana’s most incisive wordsmiths.
Fans can catch Worlasi performing the new politically-charged material at a December 23rd concert. The EP drops November 23rd across all platforms.
“Angry African” looks set to become Worlasi’s most candid and compelling statement yet. Don’t sleep on this timely and thought-provoking release from one of Ghana’s sharpest social commentators.
